Zulama's online elective courses empower students and give real life applications to abstract academic concepts. Courses include Horror Fiction Writing, Geometry and Architecture, and a Video Game Academy developed with Carnegie Mellon University. Academic content becomes sticky when it's reinforced using project based learning. For instance, what high schooler isn't interested in video games?! Students eagerly sign up, and then they learn mathematics, social studies, art, computer science, and more . . . all while engaged in hands-on, collaborative game-building projects in their "native" digital world. Zulama's courses are authored by people passionate about their subject area who have gained their expertise through work experience, teaching, or both. This content can't be found in traditional textbooks. Experiencing Zulama's high-quality, engaging, and rigorous courses helps students achieve their college and career goals.

The VHS Collaborative is a non-profit organization that has changed the face of online and blended learning in high schools and middle schools around the world. Since 1996, we have brought an education to students they thought they couldn't receive, and to administrators they thought they couldn't afford, via the web. Students in our global classrooms engage in study with peers from around the country and around the world. Using the latest web tools, classmates debate, share, comment, and collaborate on projects. A teacher specially trained in online education posts lessons, guides discussions, provides feedback, aids understanding, asks and answers questions, and assesses the work. We have not only taught children far and wide, we have taught their teachers, educating them in the many ways to leverage technology in the classroom. VHS does not replace traditional classroom teaching; we supplement it, and partner with schools to provide a more well-rounded education for the 21st century
