Our Mission

The ASB Online Academy was founded with a mission to provide an effective, accessible, anytime, anywhere online learning environment that encourages collaboration, shared passion and a desire to develop 21st century skills that support lifelong learning.

Who can take our courses

The ASB Online Academy is open to everyone! Our Adult Learning strand has been live since early 2011 and we have recently opened our Professional Learning strand offering 4 courses with more to be added soon. We continue to work on developing our student strand and this will open in the near future. Any adult is eligible to apply for one of our Adult Learning courses currently being offered. We welcome all levels of ability and can help you decide which course is right for you. We welcome applications no matter where you are based around the Globe.

How our online courses work

ASB Online Academy courses are instructor facilitated. Class size is limited to 15 and courses are designed around discussions and hands-on activities. Courses take place entirely over the Internet. There is no need for special software or hardware. Anywhere students have access to the Internet they can take an ASB Online Academy course. Courses are offered in a scheduled asynchronous mode. There are due dates for assignments, but students can post work to their class anytime, day or night. Courses vary in length from 1 to 6 weeks and are clustered into themes. You can take an individual course, but consider taking an entire cluster to get a deep understanding of a particular theme.

Course participants will receive signed Certificates of Completion for all courses successfully completed. We can include the number of study hours where required. Some of our courses also offer graduate credit, please see here for further details.

About the American School of Bombay

The American School of Bombay (ASB) was founded as an independent, coeducational day school in 1981. The school offers an educational program from early childhood through grade 12 for approximately 700 students representing over 40 nationalities. ASB serves the international and expatriate community of Mumbai and is recognized with full accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation. ASB has been an IB World School since 1998 and is authorized to offer both the Primary Years and Diploma Programs. While focusing on the development of the whole child, the school offers a college preparatory curriculum that awards graduates an American high school diploma and/or the International Baccalaureate Diploma. The school’s curriculum is enhanced with a widely-recognized 1-to-1 laptop program for all students in grades 3 through 12 focusing on technological fluency from the earliest years.
